Select composting worms like Red Wigglers (Eisenia fetida). These worms are well-suited for decomposing organic matter.

Create a Bin:

Use a container or bin with drainage holes for aeration. Fill it with a bedding material like shredded newspaper, cardboard, or coconut coir.

Maintain Moisture:

Keep the bedding moist but not waterlogged. Worms need a damp environment to thrive.

Add Food Scraps:

Introduce kitchen scraps like fruit and vegetable peels, coffee grounds, and crushed eggshells. Avoid oily, citrus, and meat products.

Provide Ventilation:

Ensure proper aeration by regularly turning the bedding or adding ventilation holes to prevent anaerobic conditions.

Optimal Temperature:

Maintain a temperature range of 55-77°F (13-25°C). Worms thrive in these conditions.

Harvesting Castings:

Harvest worm castings (vermicompost) once the bedding is rich in dark, crumbly material. Separate worms from the compost to restart the process.

Troubleshoot Issues:

Watch for signs of problems like bad odors, pests, or excessive moisture. Adjust conditions accordingly.
