Potatoes are easy to grow rather if you have a garden or just using pots, buckets or even barrels. It’s best to start off growing potatoes by putting a small amount of dirt at the bottom of your pot or bucket and then your potato starters, slightly cover with dirt. When you see it sprout, add more dirt until it’s covered and keep repeating the process. Growing time is 12 – 20 weeks long. One potato yields a whopping 5 – 20 potato’s and likes to be grown in the full Sun.
Remarkably, when you see the plant flowering is when your potatoes are growing down beneath the plant.

Then, by me simply taking our potato scraps to our compost bin, we now already have this year’s potato crop growing.
One of the best things that we’ve done and that is composting with red wigglers. You are taking what you would normally throw away and turn it into the very best fertilizer around. Worm castings or even its liquid run off. Vermicomposting is full of microorganisms and is essential for a healthy roots system and stem strength.
Storage
Just like squash, potatoes have a long self life if stored in a cool, dry and dark space after harvesting. One other option is to blanch and freeze and they last up to one year in the freezer.
